Born in Ankara, Turkey, to an Armenian family, Haroutioun Ohanian and his siblings, Victoria, Vahan, and Simon, were children of the genocide.
They witnessed death and destruction and experienced starvation and deportation.
They lost their parents.
The children survived because aunts and uncles took care of them, for a time.
But these loving relatives, under threat themselves, could not prevent the family from being separated.
