Following a double bereavement Rose Gregory takes refuge at a dank and decaying monastery which turns out to be a hotbed of bullying and cruelty causing Gregory to intervene violently.
Grief is contemplated without sentimentality in this all-the-more moving novel from the Lights On Dark Water author.
