About the author Ricardo L pez was born in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.
Being the eldest of eight children, he started at a young age to cook and care for his younger siblings.
He began working as a waiter at the age of 12 on Scorpion Island on Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake.
He worked for many years in the kitchen at the Hotel Monte Carlo in Chapala; then served as head chef at a private golf club.
He has worked in all areas of restaurant management for over 30 years, and still feels passionate about cooking and working in food service.
