About the Author David Martin Mc Carthy was born and reared in the working-class suburb of Cork City, Ireland and attended the famed North Monastery ( The Mon ) school.
He is a singer-songwriter, entertainer and has written for radio and TV.
he still lives on Cork's Northside ( Fair Hill ) and is personally familiar with many of the characters whose stories are contained in Cork's Dock's and Dockers.
When asked to describe the content of the book he replied Angela's Ashes with a sense of humour .
