The book explains that you can't see the boo-boo and tells the kids what it is called: Cancer.
It goes through the timeline of what one mommy went through - from having surgery and losing her breasts, to having to go through chemotherapy and losing her hair.
Mommy may look different, and it will take time for Mommy to heal - but in the end, she will get better.
