When one of Dr Cathy Moreland's patients attends the surgery with a disturbing story of marital tension, accompanied by a suggestive bruise on her upper arm, the doctor is understandably concerned.
The young woman confides that she is afraid of her husband, a local farmhand, but refuses to allow the doctor to help any further.
The following week, Dr Moreland, both overworked and strained, is horrified to hear of a fatal shootin.
