She has worked at urban acute-care hospitals, small rural hospitals, nursing homes, short-term rehabilitation hospitals, and long-term-care facilities.
De Long has also served as a clinical instructor for other students of physical therapy.
In addition to her work with respiratory and other kinds of therapy, De Long has led an exercise and support group for Parkinson's patients for several years.
She currently resides with her husband in Houston, Texas.
They have two grown children.
