Description The book edits and annotates Aristotle's discussions in chapters of Metaphysics (except Book ) so that this classic of ancient Greece can be an approachable version for everyone to read.
Currently, these discussions have received little attention that can be presented in a unique form of demonstration, which roughly is divided into a thesis--demonstration--conclusion (marked by ), and form a system of demonstration which runs through the book (see appendix).
This book consists of discussion or demonstrations selected from the original text of the English version of Metaphysics with the title of the chapters as the thesis, the conclusion part placed at the end, the main part marked by sequential numbers as well as the annotations (marked by ).
Cross-chapter demonstrations become an integrated one by merging them; the beginning or end of a chapter in Metaphysics usually form a thesis or conclusion or both of them, and the middle of the chapter is the specific part of demonstrations.
This book constitutes about half of Metaphysics in length, and the parts irrelevant to the demonstrations and the minor ones have been removed so that Metaphysics is no longer difficult for readers to read for when they grasp the demonstrations they can understand the main contents of each chapter.
This book aims to show the demonstrations as the discussion in Metaphysics and reproduce their internal structure and core contents; it is not easy, so the book is not a simple excerpt or compilation, but rather a complete system of demonstrations.
The right way to use this book is to compare the Greek or other language versions of Metaphysics with the approximate number of pages and lines of Bakker standard provided in the book; readers can fully grasp the whole Metaphysics by reading it sentence-by-sentence and chapter-by-chapter.
